So school is back on and has been for about a month. I call January the new term..........I get that term change isn't until the beginning of February, but with Band it is because I give out all the new music.
I have deamed this semester "Movie Music" themed. the Gold Band is playing Phantom of the Opera (I think I may be a little overly ambishous with this on) and Pirates of the Carribean II. The Blue band is working out ET and the Jazz band has got: theme from Greatest American Hero ( from a cheezy tv show, but also from bowling for columbine), Wake me Up before you Go Go (yes Im finally letting someone play that song, as it is off of Zoolander) and the Pink Panter Remix (a jazz disco version of the song). Along with the regular other Band music stuff. Im also working on a trip and other such things. I just realized that Guitar is starting soon and I have way to much work to do in that regard.
Im basically trying to keep myself as busy as possible.
The trip to honduras is on hold. We can't get any airplane tickets that are reasonable. So we might go someplace else, but we are all not sure yet. I'll keep you posted.
Went to see a play tonight about Meth. It was very powerful. What was most impressive (although there were many things) was the abilities of the actors. None of it felt at all contrived and this is surprising from the ages of the actors. I also liked that the play offered no solutions. It was set in a forum style. So that after the play was over the audience could take part and offer different conclusions/directions for the play much like a choose your own adventure book.
Several people got up to take the place of some characters to change the outcome of the play. This would provide the plays most powerful moments.
Anyway on a lighter note. I am also helping out as the junior girls b-ball team. I think all those years bench warming is starting to finally pay off. I will get to travel with the team and help them out with some coaching. which will be fun, especially since all the student on the team rock the free world.

oh yeah, all that from memory, and frigging old does that make you feel that you know the words to that song, and i am betting all the little bandies were like, i have never heard of a tv thing called greatest american hero.
