The Marathon Continues...................................
And for the first time in a few days an episode I missed.
Episode 10:
Flashback:
Young Hurley is fixing up a car. His Dad comes out and says he is leaving to go to Las Vegas. Fast forward: Hurley is standing outside of Mr. Cluck’s restaurant in an interview shortly after winning the lottery. He has just bought the place. A reporter is doing a story on this. She and her camera man go inside to do some promos and a meteor hits the building.
Hurley goes home and tells his mother he is cursed and that he will be going to Sidney to find the origin of the numbers. His mother tells him the curse is broken because his father has returned after being away for 17 years. Hurley doesn’t seem pleased. Hurley’s dad gets him to try one more thing before he goes off to Australia. They go see a psychic. She reveals some interesting things about his winnings and tells him he can be rid of the curse. Hurley offers the lady $10,000 to find out if his dad put her up to it. She says that it is true. Hurley’s Dad tries to have a heart to heart with him. But Hurley decides to go to Australia anyway.
In the present:
Hurley is talking to Charlie. Charlie tells him that Desmond said he would die. Hurley says “I think he’s right and it might be my fault, I’m cursed”. At this point Vincent (the dog) comes out of the bushes with a skeletonized arm. Attached to this arm is a rabbit’s foot and a key. Hurley chases Vincent into the jungle, until he gets the key and comes upon a car. It’s a Dharma Initiative Van, Volkswagen style. He goes back to the beach to recruit some people to fix up the car and make it work again; the only one that will go is Jun.
After Hurley leaves, Kate and Sawyer return to the beach. Sawyer is demanding to know where his stuff is. This leads him to help Jun and Hurley fix the car. Sawyer is motivated by the fact that the wagon is filled with “Dharma Initiative Beer”. Inside the car they also find a surveyors map and some recycling. Jun tells Hurley he won’t be able to make the car work. Hurley goes off to pray and only after Sawyer throws a beer at him does he get the idea to roll the van to jump start it.
Hurley goes off to get Charlie so they can break the curse and see if they can tempt death. They successfully start the van (a van fully equipped with an a-track player).
Kate gets back to the beach and immediately takes off again. When Sayeed and Locke ask her where she is going. She states she is going to get Jack back. She is going to find Russo. Sayeed and Locke eventually join her. When they get to Russo, Kate says Russo should lead them to the others camp because she met someone she believes is Russo’s daughter.
Overall the episode was kinda boring. I didn't really answer any questions or ask more. But I do think that map will come in handy later.
