Slytherin House

As many of you know, my new school uses the house system. A system in which all students and teachers are placed on house teams so they compete for the Mulgrave House cup. Teachers award points to students they feel are doing great things. Every house has a house captain from grade 11 and 12. Conviniently the house colours are as follows: Yellow, Red, Green and Blue. If you would like to learn more about our house system you can do so here.

In Theory each colour represents a different nobel prize winner. I was placed in Michael Smith aka Green House aka Slytherin House. And I'm pretty happy about that. Thank goodness I didn't get placed in Whinston Churchil aka Yellow House aka Hufflepuff.

Michael Smith is also very a very interesting person. "In 1993, Dr. Michael Smith received the Nobel Prize for his development of the technique of site-directed mutagenesis, a technique which allows the DNA sequence of any gene to be altered in a designated manner." (ubc faculty biography) This is pretty freaking cool if you ask me.

But let's be honest, I'm basically working for Hogwart's. Apparently there is a personality that goes along with each house. I'm looking forward to finding out what I have in common with a mutagenisist.......
